The Jamorama system claims to be aimed at guitarists of all levels. In actual fact, any guitarist who is already a competant player looking to improve further is best off giving this one a miss. This online lesson plan peters out at the point where some guitarists are looking to take off. That said, if you are a beginner to average guitarist then you will get a lot out of these lessons. With 148 step by step video lessons, a beginning guitarist can quickly get up to speed with most serious concepts of the guitar and playing. The video lessons are also of high quality, professionally shot and recorded.

No matter your skill level though, the included jam tracks, all 26 of them, are of great value. A lot of programs use awful sounding sequenced tracks that just don't sound right. Not so with Jamorama. All the backing tracks are played by real musicians on real instrument. It may not sound like much but it adds a huge amount to the "feel" of the tracks, and in my opinion the more feel in the music you are playing along with, the more feel you play with.

Not only is there are strong grounding in theory in these lessons, Jamorama also focuses on the physical techniques of playing guitar, including things that often get overlooked such as correct posture, how to hold the guitar and also how to hold a plectrum. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who are frustrated with their picking technique and never considered that their pick grip is to blame. Hopefully that problem will be solved with the lessons that focus on these factors.

Jamorama also includes downloadable software to help you on your way. These programs make the monotony of learning to read music fun, and also help students to develop their ear for transcribing their favourite songs from the radio.

Most importantly, Jamorama has an active user forum to discuss ideas and share thoughts. You also have some limited access to one on one mentoring, however compared to some other products this is rather limited.
